East Bay Youth Horsemanship Education
The Rides Foundation/RidesFund.org, an affiliate of the East Bay Community Foundation, has been giving horseback riding scholarships to East Bay Area youth since 2005. 18 have been awarded.

Scholarship criteria are: age 7-17, financial need, a short essay, and teacher/principal recommendation. Email or phone for applications.

Recipients train with "Mustang Challenge" finalist Bev Vreeland at Basso's Arena in Livermore, in both Western and English disciplines, using  gentle schooling horses.
Lessons are facilitated and observed by RF Director, Audie Bock, whose Half-Arabian pinto, Gladiator Bey, won Northern Calif. and Nevada "Top 5" in Western Pleasure. He now lives at Basso's along with her black multi-talented Arabian, Dreamfire WR.

We have participated in Castro Valley's Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade in May (we've won 3 trophies) and the Oakland Black Cowboy Parade (1 trophy).

Donations to RidesFund are fully tax deductible; 100% goes to scholarships.
